Morning Fancy Pants fans! Nicole back on the blog today to share a really simple way to create layers on your project, without a lot of work!
It should be no surprise that I LOVE patterned paper. In fact, I love it so much, that I hate to use some of it. I try to take collections that I love and only use the very smallest amounts at one time, to save as much of that pretty paper that I can!
For this project, I used only some scraps of patterned paper, some diecuts and puffy stickers… okay, and a little washi tape. So a few things. In reality, not too much as it is mostly paper.
Layering the paper is really quite simple. Start with using one collection. All the work is done for you! All the papers co-ordinate and were meant to look good together. Pick one paper that has multiple colors in it as a starting point, like I did by choosing the Fields of Fancy paper in the Dream Big collection.
Next, I tried to save all that pretty paper. I cut random squares and rectangles from each of the papers in the Dream Big collection. I started with the larger pieces around where my one photo would be and tried to place those papers in a visual triangle around that area. I added small amounts of adhesive to the back as I worked my way across the page and just kept adding, making sure to mix up pattern and color as I went. Once I had all my papers in place, I stitched areas down with my sewing machine… and then tucked in some torn strips of washi tape over some of the layers. That gold washi tape from Millie & June is perfect to add just a touch of sparkle in cases like this!
Now, get out there and cut up all that pretty paper! Using it in small doses is possible and you can still save your favorites for many more projects!
