Getting a little Artsy Fartsy…

Happy Friday, Friends!

Mary-Ann here… something to learn about me…I am well known in the neighborhood as the lady with all the art supplies {probably like many of you}.  You need something done, chances are, I have the tools you need.  Assisting my little neighborhood pal on her 2nd grade art project was so much fun.    I wanted to be sure to document it.  I used the new The Bright Side Collection. For my layout, I wanted to ‘semi’-recreate the picture she completed.  So, I used a FREE cut file from Paper Issues- Sunburst Background, enlarged it to have the sun, overlapping the edge of the corner.  If I had thought in advance, I would have directly added my journaling to the sun rays.  Instead, I cut the strips of journaling and individually placed them on the rays.

You can see the journaling close-up here.

I also used another FREE cut file from Paper Issues called Rings of Life for my flowers.  I wanted to add something delicate with the fun colorful papers in The Bright Side Collection.  Behind my photos, I layered some of the colorful tags in The Bright Side Tag pack and a few more papers for layering!

Oh, and that bow!  It was part of the Pretty Paper Bows from the Millie and June Collection?  It had a package of Paper Bows.  I used the gold one that worked perfectly with the yellow background paper.  I love mixing older with the new.

Thanks for stopping by today.

You are “My Pot of Gold”!

Hello, Friends!

It’s almost St. Patrick’s Day and I wanted to whip up a few quick cards for my sweet kids…a little luck for their day! It was fun to just pick the colors of the rainbow from a few different collections, add a little stitching, and, of course, gold covered chocolate and a little green cash for them to purchase a treat of their choosing!

I did use our new collection – The Bright Side – for the red, yellow and blue portions of the card!  I pulled the green from our new – Poolside -Collection, the orange from a previous summer collection and the purple from our more recent – Spellbound – Collection!!

I added a quick note inside with my handwriting…I also added a personal little note in the corner for each of them…and even though I don’t always love the finished look of my writing, I do love that they have something from my hand!

I felt like these were a little mish-mash of design, color and fun…the stitching adds that imperfect look that makes it even more handmade…each one unique and special just for them!  This was a fun little project to celebrate good ol’ St. Patrick’s Day!  You still have plenty of time to whip up a few of these!!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day (on Saturday) and don’t forget to wear green!

Hey Fancy Pants friends!
It’s Nicole here again on the blog. Today, I wanted to share with you a project that packs a punch, and a whole lotta heart too ;)!
Love full
I wanted to use up my Take Note 6×6 paper pad, I had a lot of little scraps here and there that needed to get used up, so I grabbed my trusty heart punch and just started punching shapes from several of the papers that I had remaining. I really don’t like wasting any pretty paper, so punching out designs is a great way to stretch your paper stash! After all that punching, I had a lot of hearts ready to go!  I folded them in half, and lined them back up with each other to create pretty easy paper flowers on the right side of my page.  They created the bold look I was going for and the mix of color and pattern was perfect!
Love cl2
Once, I finished the flowers, I stitched a button to the center of each flower and then set to finish off my page. As the one side of the page was pretty busy, I left the other side pretty simple, adding in a cork title and a pretty floral diecut cluster below my photo focal point.
Love cl1
I love how this one turned out, I used a lot of scraps up too, which is always a win in my books!

Good morning Fancy Pants Designs fans! Nicole here today to share a fun project that combines a few of my favorite Fancy Pants collections.
I wasn’t sure where I was going to go with my project, so I enlisted my 8 yr old daughters help for this one. I needed an idea to get me going, so I asked her to randomly pick a paper from my Fancy Pants stash, hoping it would kick start my mojo.
She picked the All Hallows Eve paper in the Spellbound collection… At first, I was like – what am I going to do with that, it’s Halloween…then I flipped it over and saw all those great circles. I decided to punch several of them out and used them to build the flower on my page.
Beauty full
To create those flowers, I punched a 1 1/2″ circle from scrap paper and then adhered 1″ circles around the outer edge until they were basically even around the scrap piece. I added a layered punched circle to the center to add a center to each of my flowers to add a little interest.
Beauty cl2
I added a title under my title, so leaves to my flower stems (also from my trusty circle punches) and a few fun embellishments from the Sweet Nothings collection!
Beauty cl1
That’s it for me today ! I hope the next time you are looking for a little kickstart, you can shop your stash for you and go from there!

The Bright Side with Zsoka

Hi there friends,

Zsoka here with you today sharing my latest layout.

I’ve been waiting for the new collections impatiently, especially The Bright Side. Have you seen it? Oh my goodness! It’s so unique, the colors are so fresh and the designs are so pretty and fun! Amber LaBau did it again!

When I got my package I went to work right away, I knew exactly which papers I wanted to use first.

The other thing I really wanted to use on my layout was one of the crochet flowers! Well actually I would have used more but there’s only 2 in a pack, so I’m hoarding the other one for now!

I started with my title. I chose a font I liked in Silhouette Studio and blew up the title to a big size, then cut it from a yellow patterned paper. I adhered this to the green-white striped paper and hand stitched around it using embroidery floss. The layout itself is a very simple and quick one, so I thought I might as well spend some time adding stitching. I actually feel bad if a layout comes together too quickly haha! Once done, I glued this strip of paper onto my background paper.

The paper I chose for my background has a subtle grid pattern and that amazing floral print at the top. I knew I wanted to put my photo there, but it covered the sides and I didn’t like that. So with heavy heart I took an exacto knife and started cutting around the leaves so I can tuck my photo under them. I say with heavy heart because I’m seriously bad with the exacto knife. Luckily I haven’t messed it up!

I added a couple of layers of tissue paper behind my photo to give it a bit of dimension. Then I placed it where I wanted it and glued it down. I haven’t used an awful lot of embellishments, I wanted to keep the rest of the layout simple. So I just layered some tags and die cut pieces around my photo, one die cut flower on my title and of course the crochet flower! God I love that flower!

As for the scooter! It was meant to be! This photo was taken in Sicily so I thought the scooter must go on the layout. If not now, when? Ha!

To finish off my layout I stamped my date on a tab and added some black ink splatters.

That’s it guys! I hope these colors makes you smile today!

Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
