Take Note – Pop up Cards | Zsoka Marko

Hi there,

I’m back today with a project I created for Fancy Pants. Our focus this time was the wonderful new collection Take Note, designed by the lovely Amber LaBau.
This collection, as its name suggests, is all about planning, notebooks, school, books – especially the embellishments. The papers are mostly generic, so you could use them for any project really. And I’m in love with them! Gorgeous colors and patterns, you can come up with many different color combinations! Looking at the die cut pack I thought it would be a good idea to create some teacher appreciation cards.

I’ve had this cut file for years but every time I opened it, I got overwhelmed. There’s a lot of small pieces! But now I took the time to search for a tutorial on the internet, had a look, and all of a sudden it didn’t seem that complicated anymore! If you’re interested, you find the tutorial here.

It took a while to cut all the pieces, especially the small ones, even with the Cameo. I’m not big on planning ahead, and here I had to. So I planned out in the Studio program what piece I want to cut from which paper and colored the pieces so I don’t forget. Especially because I wanted to create 3 cards with 3 different color combinations. I didn’t use all pieces available in the cut file because I wanted to use some pieces from the ephemera pack of this collection.

While cutting the files I started to assemble the cards. I used white textured cardstock as base for all of them to achieve a coherent look. Then I started working on the small pieces like the pencils and apples. I actually didn’t end up using up all the pieces I cut!

First I attached the patterned paper panels, the Thank You banners and the teacher labels – here I sewed on different cute buttons from the series.

Once done, I checked what die cuts from the ephemera pack I could use to decorate my cards. I started gluing these to the base, making sure everything is in the right place and is visible. For this I folded the cards at each step.

I love how they turned out! I’m glad I gave it another try because it was really fun working on these!

I hope you like my cards!

Thanks  for stopping by!

 Till next time X

NO Fun | Amy Coose

NO Fun | Amy Coose

Hi everyone, Amy here to share a project I created using the Family & Co. line, which still continues to be a favorite. I love the more primary colors in this line, and they really matched my pictures perfectly. I had these pictures of my little guy throwing a bit of a pity party at Toys R Us, and I couldn’t wait to document it.

I wanted my embellishments to flow diagonally down my page, so I added the top grouping, which included the title and a tag that I stamped.

I added journaling inside one of the ephemera pieces and added my favorite star tag from the tags. I needed something to balance out the two large embellishments so I created a smaller cluster to finish it off.

I loved how this layout turned out, I always love using more than one picture. Thanks for visiting the blog today!

Repurpose Those Leftovers

Hello friends…Kim here with a challenge for you!

Are you like me and have loads of  leftovers of collections just looking for purpose? Well I set myself a challenge for todays find a purpose for the leftovers I have from the super-cute, themed, Millie & June collection. So I thought with Easter around the corner, that I would get a head start with my crafting & come up with a way to transform the supplies into an Easter gift set. The colors are fabulous & the patterns super cute…I knew right away it would not be difficult to do.

This is the result!

Easter Gift Set by Kim Watson

(Youtube process video to follow, see my channel or pop back to see this post once updated)

The first thing I did was look for a whole 12×12 piece of paper. I would need an entire sheet to create the gift bag. Once folded, I die-cut the bunny face to fit the width of the bag, rouged her cheeks, drew her eyes & mouth and then made the bows from the convenient Millie & June die-cut paper bow set.

The card was also super simple to put together. Using a strip of Our Garden patterned paper I cut a backing piece in the gold foil stripe & flipped the leftover piece using the floral side to cut a big pennant shape. I then die-cut a circle from the pennant, making a little window for the chick to peek out of.

The accents consist of a trimmed tag (to hide the sentiment) & a few patterned heart ephemera; which reminded me of Easter eggs. Not having the correct stamp sentiment, I used the speech bubble die-cut & hand wrote Happy Easter, which finished off the card nicely.

So as you can see, repurposing your themed products is not as complicated as you would think. I hope this has inspired you to haul those leftovers out, with the purpose of giving them new life 😀

Thanks for stopping by the Fancy Pants Designs blog! Have an awesome weekend!
