Hi there… Jess here today to share with you the April “In the Mood” mood board and what I created with it! I’m a big fan of grabbing inspiration from other images.  You can draw from the colors, motifs, and patterns in a mood board to help you with the design of your layouts.

Here’s the April mood board:

You can see that the board is perfect for working with the Be Different collection.  It has the same boyish charm and fun colors.  I dug up this photo of my guys in front of a dinosaur and worked in all the colors from the mood board.

The board also features a lot of stars so I used that motif throughout.  You can see them on the star pattern paper, cute metal Etcetera clip, and with the smattering of cork stars.

The photo is a busy one so I hand stitched a circle in coordinating blue twine around the subjects of the photo.

Although I truly love the way these Artist Edition wood titles look when they’re bare I decided my title needed more pop against the cream background so I painted it dark blue… these just look awesome either way!

So I hope you can see how fun it can be to work with a mood board.  You can find them on Pinterest, blogs, and even make your own to use when you’re having a bit of a creative block.

Thanks for joining me today and don’t forget to enter the great sketch challenge hosted by Scrapbook Circle this month.  There are prizes from Fancy Pants Designs AND Scrapbook Circle up for grabs!
