Hello Everyone! Vicki here today to share with you a little mini album I created with the “Family & Co Collection”. This was really fun to make! This collection is so diverse. It could be used for so many different things, but recently my son and daughter in law purchased a new house. I thought a mini album with photos of how the house looked when they bought it would be a great way to document the changes as they make changes. . I know they will do lots of remodeling, so I thought it would be great to document how it was in the beginning, so they could look back on it after time and see the progress. As I looked thru the Family & Co Collection I instantly saw that there would be so many great things that would work for a album like this.
Once again, I started out by digging into my “to alter” bin in my craft room closet. I love using things in a way that is probably not what it was originally created for. But I think we all do right? It’s how creative minds work. We think out of the box.
This was originally one of those dimensional houses you can find at the Hobby Lobby or Micheal’s (most often during the Holidays). They are quite inexpensive. It comes with two pieces like the one below. You normally slide them together using the long slit you can see here. Making the house stand upright. I decided to do things differently, and use these two pieces to create a front and back for a mini album. ( You can punch or drill the holes for you album rings).
When I took those photos, the kids had not yet even moved into the house. So it was really the beginning 😊 This home is something they have dreaming about. They say this will be their “forever home”. They both love the history of things. The stories that old things have to tell. This house is an old school house that has been added on to. It’s in the country, which is something they really wanted . It has a big shop which Jarad is thrilled about. ( What guy wouldn’t be, right?) lol
And the fact that it’s an old school house couldn’t make Kate happier., as she is a teacher. It seems a perfect fit for them, and we are so excited for them.
I’ll share a few of the pages with you here.
There was just so many great papers and pieces to choose from in this collection. I used a lot of the ephemera and tags from this collection in the album. The Chipboard Designer Stickers and Puffy Heart Stickers were not only perfect for this little album but offered up a way to added even more dimension to my pages.
As I thought about creating this album, I really wanted to make sure it was an album that could easily be added to. I added rings that could accommodate home pages. As they change things and make improvements it will be so fun to be able to look back at the way things were in the beginning.
We document the milestones in our life and in our families life, why not document the changes someplace as special as our homes go through, right?
This collection is perfect for a little album like this, but it’s also great for layouts, cards and other altered projects!
Thank you for letting me share this little house warming gift with you. I hope it leaves you inspired to want to create.
