Hello everyone! My name is Zinia and I’m really thrilled to join the Fancy Pants Designs team for the upcoming year! I really can’t wait to share with you some fun ideas and techniques to use your Fancy Pants supplies and make some pretty stuff.

Before I get into my layout, I’d like to tell you a few things about myself just so we get to know each other a little bit better.

I’m a designer and illustrator living with a crazy dog and a bunch of cats! Well the cats actually belong to my parents but we visit them often so my little tornado can go around and lick kitty faces. I love cooking and baking as well as taking photos (don’t we all!). Most of my layouts and memory keeping projects focus around my pets or the adventures I have with my soulmate.

So the very first layout I created using my Fancy Pants stash is focusing on the gorgeous The Bright Side collection by Amber LaBau. The photo I picked was from our vacation time last summer and I really loved how the colors from the picture worked so well with the collection.

I went for a relatively minimalistic/graphic style that will keep the focus on the photo and let it pop against a variety of patterns. I decided to go for this specific design cause I really love all the pattern papers in this collection and I wanted to use as many of them as possible.

Using multiple patterns on the same page can be tricky, that’s why I simplified the composition to keep things balanced and calm.

To avoid over embellishing the page I kept things relatively flat. I mostly navigated towards ephemera pieces (and there are actually tons to choose from in this line!) and washi tape.

I even found a delicate ephemera piece that worked perfectly as my title so I didn’t need to add chipboard letters or other bulky elements.

I chose to add my journaling between the pattern paper strips with a light grey pen just to make sure it won’t pop too much and it will get incorporated in the whole design of this page.

My very last step was to add the date on a lovely tag die-cut and surround it with a few heart stickers.

I’m really thrilled of how this page turned out. It’s a really great design to make use of your favorite pattern papers or even use up leftover scraps.

On top of that the whole process is super simple so if you are a beginner in scrapbooking you can just dive right in and create a beautiful page.

I really hope you enjoyed this and you got inspired to create something today. Until next time, happy crafting!
